What is free, exactly

We would rather you judge the cases by using them than by reading about them. These parts of the SCA suite are open to everyone, for good, not as a time-limited trial:

  • Five complete sample cases in The Hot Seat, with the brief, role-player script, examiner checkpoints, model consultation and knowledge summary. These are full cases, not teasers.
  • One free run of the AI Patient Simulator, so you can consult an AI patient by voice or text and get domain-by-domain feedback.
  • The full SCA Guide: format, marking, why candidates fail and a 12-week plan.
  • Joining a Live Group Mock. If a friend hosts a session, a free account is all you need to join as patient or examiner.

The exact free offer is set out on the plans and pricing page. If anything here ever differs from that page, the pricing page is correct.

The five free SCA cases

We describe these the way they would appear on your list, not by diagnosis, because working out what is going on is the point. They were chosen for spread: video, telephone and face to face; a child safeguarding concern; an older adult; and an end-of-life ethics conversation.

CaseFormatWhat you know going in
A follow-up after a well-man checkFace to faceA 32-year-old man comes back to talk through a reading taken at a routine check. He has his own ideas about what it means.
The teacher’s phone callTelephoneA member of school staff rings about a child registered at your practice. It is a professional call with plenty under the surface.
“I want the form, doctor”TelephoneA 79-year-old man books a call on his own behalf about a decision that matters to him. Capacity and ethics are at the centre.
Recalled to discuss blood resultsVideoA 68-year-old woman, who cares for her husband, has been asked to discuss recent blood tests. She arrives with a clear expectation.
A builder’s three-month coughVideoA 56-year-old man books a video appointment about a cough that will not settle.

All five are shown first in the case list and marked Free. They also appear in the AI simulator, role-play packs and group mock pickers.

How to get the most from five cases

  1. Do one cold, under exam timing. 3 minutes on the brief, 12 minutes out loud. Your first attempt shows your real habits.
  2. Mark it honestly against the three domains in Examiner Marking, then read the model consultation.
  3. Swap roles with a colleague. Playing the patient from the script is one of the fastest ways to learn what examiners notice. You hear what cue-missing sounds like from the other chair.
  4. Use your free AI run on a case you have not seen, so the feedback reflects how you consult rather than what you remember.
  5. Repeat the weakest case a week later. If the same domain slips again, that is your revision priority.

Frequently asked questions

Are there free SCA cases I can practise?
Yes. Five complete sample cases in The Hot Seat are free for everyone, with no card needed. Each includes the brief, role-player script, examiner checkpoints and model consultation.
Do I need to sign up to use the free cases?
No card is needed and the free pages are not a countdown trial. Some interactive features, such as joining a group session or your free AI simulator run, may ask you to create a free account.
Is the AI SCA simulator free?
You get one free run of the AI Patient Simulator. Unlimited use is part of the Gold and Platinum plans; see pricing.
Is the SCA Guide really free?
Yes, all of it: format, marking, common reasons for failing and a 12-week plan. Read the SCA Guide.
Are the free cases easier than the paid ones?
No. They were picked for variety of format and theme, not difficulty, and they are complete cases built the same way as the rest of the bank.
