Lab results actioning — next steps, per result
Paste from EMIS / SystmOne or fill the form. The tool fires per-result rules from UK guidance (NICE CKS & NGs, BSH, Renal Association, BSG, BTA, BMJ Best Practice, Medscape) and turns each abnormal value into an action: emergency, 2WW, urgent, treat, drug review, repeat, refer, recall, or annotate — with the rule cited, a patient phrase, and a notes template you can copy.
1 · Patient context first
Age, sex, pregnancy, current meds — thresholds shift with each (e.g. K⁺ 5.6 on ACEi is a drug review; without it, just a repeat).
2 · Paste or type
The paste box parses common formats (Hb 102, K+ 6.2, HbA1c 62…). Anything it can't parse stays blank; fill it manually. Abnormal values get colour-coded as you type.
3 · Read per-result actions
The headline is the highest-acuity action. Below it: every rule that fired, grouped by test. Expand each for the patient phrase and notes template; one-click copy.
4 · Open the full pathway
Every analyte links to its full structured pathway (e.g. Hb → Anaemia, TSH → Abnormal TFTs) — all 52 lab pathways are wired in. Rules also hand off to the Triage Tool and MedChooser where relevant.
